Loud Records is may be closing shop after over ten years in the rap game. Loud, which is a subsidiary of Sony, has been receiving a lot of pressure over the last year or so to increase record sales. Loud has released quite a few albums that have been viewed as underachievers when it comes to record sales.
The most notorious of the bunch would be the last 2 releases from the Wu-Tang Clan. There is no word of what happens to the contracts of the artists signed to Loud, but there could definitely be some big name free agents soon. The artists signed to Loud are The Beatnuts, Big Pun (they still own his material), Dead Prez, Funkmaster Flex, Gangsta Boo, Killarmy, Krayzie Bone, LV, Mobb Deep, M.O.P., Prodigy, Project Pat, Stereomud, Tha Liks, Three 6 Mafia, Violator, Wu-Tang Clan, X-Ecutioners and Xzibit.
Most talk has revolved around just shutting down and launching a newer version of loud, or re-naming the company altogether. Sources did confirm that Xzibit will still be released under the Loud banner.
