Big Daddy Kane Readies New Album

After dropping his first album fourteen years ago, Big Daddy Kane still feels he is as hungry as ever. With old school hits like “Ain’t No Half Steppin”, “I Get The Job Done” and “Warm It Up Kane”, Kane feels getting back to his usual style of making hits is not going to be hard.

“We got a few party joints, but mainly a bunch of street flavor,” he said of his eighth album. “The Alchemist blessed me with three mean joints, DJ Premier gave me a hot joint, DJ Scratch gave me two hot ones. It’s coming out real good.”

Although his home base is no longer in New York, Kane feels that he can still maintain his steady schedule of recording on the album and touring from his new hometown of Durham, North Carolina.

Not ready to b dismissed as an old school rapper, Kane says, “. Now if you call ‘Ain’t No Half-Steppin’ ‘ or ‘Raw’ an old-school song, I agree with you. But if you call Big Daddy Kane an old-school artist, I disagree with you. ‘Cause when I touch the mic now, ‘The best/ Ah yes …’ I’m not doing that now. My music shows where I’m at and how I’ve grown.”
