Back when Jay-Z announced his I Declare War concert, many wondered if 50 Cent and his G-Unit Soldiers might’ve been targets for attack. Recently, heads have tried to pit the two superstars against each other again, but with a new concert on the way, all the two camps really want to do is Keep Hope Alive.
G-Unit and Roc-A-Fella artists Lloyd Banks, Memphis Bleek, Tony Yayo, Teairra Marie and Freeway are among those scheduled to perform at this year’s Keep Hope Alive Concert which will be held March 3 in Worcester, Mass.
Alexander “Malik” Ndaula, an organizer for the event spoke to DX about the significance behind the show and whether or not we may see some interesting surprises on stage.
Ndaula opened up about the causes Keep Hope Alive stands for.
”Keep Hope Alive is a pet project of the National Lawyers Guild and is primarily aimed at serving the nation’s most disenfranchised persons, immigrants and persons incarcerated…In KHA’s work there’s a deep commitment to being the back-support to the family members and friends of those whose rights are most trampled,” he said in a statement to DX.
The artists will be there for a good cause and will also help out by donating the proceeds.
“Net proceeds from the show will be donated to organizations committed to upholding the rights of our nation’s disenfranchised persons including children in a single parent house-hold, the incarcerated, Youth Centers on top of the Keep Hope Alive project,” he added.
G-Unit and Roc-A-Fella group members will combine forces to bring about a positive message.
“The artists will perform in recognition of KHA’s work and further
reaffirming the ‘universal’ human right for all human beings to be treated fairly and equally,” Ndaula explained.
So, what about the surprises? Fans may be able to catch the leaders of The Roc and The Unit on stage as well.
“Although 50 Cent and Jay-Z have not ‘explicitly’ confirmed their attendance, they have also not stated that they will not attend. It’s just something people are gonna have to attend the show to witness whether or not the two big stars will turn up with their respective artists,” he said.
