Mary J. Blige is in search of inspiration for a new album. With her most recent work getting rave reviews,Mary is touching the sky. Therefore, it’s fitting that she would pick Kanye West as a future collaborator.
MTV has reported that Mary is seeking some help from Kanye for a new record.
“I would love to work with Kanye, and I would love to have him even do a rhyme on one of my joints,” she said of West who is currently in the lab with Common.
Sure, Mary enjoys Kanye’s beats and his flows. However, the singer is also drawn to his personality.
“That’s something that I would love to do — I just love his work. What I’m feeling about Kanye is that he does not go against what’s in his heart, and you can tell — from the way his videos look and the way his music sounds — he absolutely follows what is in his heart. Not many rap records get under your rib cage because people don’t choose the right songs, but Kanye does, and he chooses the right topics. And he’s not frontin’ for the world: He’s Kanye, and you gotta respect that,” she added.
Mary’s always had emcees on her tracks, from Big to Game. Her new single Enough Crying features 50 Cent. He also has a cameo in the video.
“Well, I’m actually playing C.J. — you know, short for Curtis Jackson,” he said. “He’s an R&B singer, and he’s aggressive. When he’s questioned by the guy interviewing them, he kind of loses his cool.”
Mary went on to tell MTV that she is planning to tour in July.
