Did Eminem really retire? On a recent visit to his own satellite radio station, Shade 45, the rapper spoke out against rumors of his alleged retirement from the game and dished out some news on Shady Records artists.
“People get it twisted when I said I’m taking a break,” he said. “I never said I’m going to stop doing music. What I meant was that I’m taking a break from being the front man and the center of attention. I want to fall back for a minute, but I never stop recording. I keep busy.”
Part of the plan was helping his artists grow. The plan is being followed through as he and Obie Trice have been hard at work on the Trice’s follow-up to his debut, Cheers.
“It’s not about something to prove,” he said of the direction of Obie’s new LP. “This time it’s about hitting an audience we didn’t connect with before. We want to target and market this album more to the streets.”
According to MTV, his current choice for a first single is the Akon assisted Snitch. The album will also discuss the shooting that left a bullet in O’s head. The album may see light of day in late May or early June.
New artists on Shady include Cashis from California and Bobby Creek from the ATL. Em hopes all of his artists have a big year.
