Pigeon John Blows up the Game

L.A. rap scene staple Pigeon John is gearing up for a new release. As we previously reported Pigeon John is dropping Summertime Pool Party in August. The funny, yet poetic emcee gave Hip Hop DX the inside scoop on his newest album and even shared exclusive information pertaining to some future projects.

First off, PJ is taking his intense show on the road where he will be backed by a live band. So, what can fans expect from PJ’s live act now?

“A lot of excitment and danger,” the emcee told DX. “We like to keep the hip hop roots with Cee Brown on the wheels of steel, move to GiB on the skins and Peter Hong on the Rhodes and guitar….its gonna be so dope!”

His first single Higher will be unveiled to the public soon. When asked why he feels it stands out, PJ offered his take on today’s Hip-Hop and how he plans to change things.

“Well, because its filled with excitement and danger of course. It’s about taking us higher in the vein of Sly Stone! We are here in hip hop….jewels, cars, whores, cocaine, whores, more cocaine….and that’s cool. I don’t like it, but some do. So with
“Higher?!” I wanted to put a stick of dynomite in the radio’s butt….and see what will happen….!”
    he added.

The album, which will feature Higher will also contain guest spots from some of rap’s brightest stars. Brother Ali, RJD2 and more are certain to make appearences.

“I’d been wanting to work with RJD2 and Brother Ali for a while now and I’m so glad it happened. RJD2 came with this beat that was amazing and hard and emotional. It was very easy to write to. And Brother Ali is our generations KRS ONE and pretty much blew me off the track…but I didn’t care man, he’s so dope!” he said about the guest spots on the album.

In fact, Pigeon John claims that this, his Quannum Projects debut will differ from the last albums he has released.

(This album is) more precise and straight forward. Its a Sammy Davis Jr. adventure. All thriller, no filler. Its bigger….deffer….and right up your alley, he said.

Aside from the new album expect PJ to tour extensively and gain more notoriety through NBA Live ’06, a game which will feature his first single Higher. His next adventure on the road will include Aceyalone and legendary Biz Markie.
