On October 3, Diddy hopes to make you Press Play. His latest album, Press Play comes after various other career triumphs and downfalls.
The rapper has had to deal with losing Shyne and Mase who left Bad Boy after earning their fame behind the label. Another disappointment came from Da Band, who had a great run on national TV but almost no longevity as musicians.
Still, the rapper/producer/designer is going strong. After failing with Da Band, he’s resurfaced with Making the Band 3, another successful reality television show for him on MTV. His cologne Unforgivable gained much press for the raunchy ads and his Sean John/b> empire has also expanded to Bad Boy Clothing.
Musically, he has been heard on various guest spots but he’s ready for the spotlight. The rapper has been working with everybody in the industry; it seems and now has an album ready to be shipped.
This album, much like No Way Out has a theme. So, what’s the concept behind Press Play?
“I wanted to do an album that had a concept but wasn’t heavy on the concept. You get a character statement about who this man is. He meets this girl, they seduce each other, he falls in love, then there’s some pain that comes with it,” he said to MTV this week.
Still, he did not want to fall into too many clichés.
”I thought that was a little bit different when I was listening to everything that was out there hip-hop-wise. I thought that was a lane I could get in. I kinda specialize in relationships and some of the problems and the seduction and all that. It’s something we all go through,” he added.
It has been reported that Common has been helping Diddy out with some of the lyrics for the project. Other guests on the album include Nicole (Of Pussycat Dolls) and Christina Aguilera. It has been reported that he is also working with Will.I.Am, Havoc (of Mobb Deep) and Pharoah Monch.
