Spike Lee is
known for controversial, yet critically acclaimed films. He’s won Oscars for
his work in movies/documentaries but now he’s gearing up to tackle the silver
screen.
That’s where Katie O’Connell,
NBC’s new head of drama comes in. She
wanted to reshape everything and felt Lee was one
person that could do just that. She says in various reports that she also
believes that Lee fits in with NBC’s
traditional ways, with his quality dramas.
The director inked the deal with NBC Universal, and now he will have to create a new series for the
company. Expect to see him direct and also expect to see his name under the
title of ‘Executive Producer’.
NBC is currently
looking for another writer to pair with Lee.
Little information is known about the project as NBC would
like to keep it tight-lipped for now.
In related news, Spike
has more projects coming soon. His documentary, When the Levees Broke based on Hurricane
Katrina’s impact, should premier in August on HBO.
