Obie Trice is the same “no
gimmicks” type of emcee on Second Round’s On Me. The rapper who
gained notoriety when he used that phrase over Eminem’s Without
Me went on to sell platinum plus with his debut Cheers. Still
backed by Shady/Aftermath, the Detroit emcee is already on his
second LP.
Earlier in the week, Obie spoke with HipHopDX
about the new album and what listeners should expect.
“I just went in [the studio] and wanted to
do my thing,” he explained to DX. “I’ma
create. I’ma change up and I’ma try to do what I think is great music all the
time. I’ma always try to grow as an artist and bring different things to the
table,” he added.
Obie isn’t just thinking about music.
While The Oster has been seen on the big
screen next to Eminem in 8 Mile, the rapper
could be featured in future flicks as well, as long as the role meets his
expectations.
“Movies is great..if I see a role and it’s not
compromising my integrity, then I’m with it,” he added about a future
in films.
Currently, the rapper’s hard at work promoting the
new LP. Second Round’s On Me features Akon, 50 Cent, Eminem,
Brick and Lace, Nate Dogg, Trey Songz and more.
“I’m always working,” he added.
Indeed he
is.
