RZA announced
the addition of a new member to the Wu-Tang Clan on Wednesday, a rapper
named Cilvaringz real name Tarik Azzougarh. Wu-Tang watchers might know the newcomer from the Ghostface
Killah single Guerrilla Hood,
which Cilvaringz produced; he also appeared on RZA’s last two
solo efforts, Digital Bullet and Birth of a Prince. RZA is
helping produce Cilvaringz’ debut, along with Method Man, GZA,
Raekwon, Ghostface and Masta
Killa. The album, titled I, is due January 2007. …
In a recent interview, Ahmir “?uestlove”
Johnson shed some light on the recent rumors that the Roots were
adding another member. Quite possibly, the best and only
“hip-hop” band, The Roots just released their album Game
Theory which features Peedi. Peedi Peedi, as he’s known now,
was previously a Roc-A-Fella soldier known as Peedi Crakk,
working mostly with Beans, Oschino and Young Gunz (Chris and
Neef) previously, he gets his shine on with the Roots on their
single “Long Time”.
?uestlove said, “I think we’re gonna give that ‘fifth Beatle’
position to Peedi. He accepted the offer, so we just have to see if we
can finance it, and fit it in our structure so that he’s basically a Root
for about a year.” Peedi is a protégé of former Roots collaborator,
Beanie Sigel. Said ?uestlove, “The chemistry that him and
Tariq (Black Thought) had, was really just some
shit I couldn’t ignore.”
