Months ago, DMX didn’t have many flattering comments for former label-mate/friend/partner Jay-Z. As his album neared its release date, he began taking shots at Jigga. He even dissed Jay‘s clothing and sandals. Hov didn’t take that so nicely. In the new issue of XXL, Hovito opened up and shot back at X with his side of the story.
“I know who I am. I don’t have to pretend. That, to me is the problem with Hip-Hop – people are pretending. I don’t have to put up a front or act a certian way all the time. I can smile, and I can have fun. I’m not gonna wear Nike Airs on a 200- foot yacht and it’s 400 degrees outside. I’m not gonna do it. I don’t care,” he said in defense.
He didn’t stop there.
“I’m not walking around the city, muthafucka. I’m not walking around in the city in jeans and flip-flops. I’m not doing that either. But I’m not gonna be in St.-Tropez … I had on the fuckin’ white linen with the Purple Label pinstripe pants. I’m gonna dress according to the weather. I’m not gonna wear a long T-shirt down to my knees and walk around the beach. I’m not doing that. And if that means that I’m not Hip-Hop, then I’m not Hip-Hop. fuck it. I’m secure with who I am. I don’t have nothing to prove. I’m a man first,” he added.
Jay-Z‘s next project Kingdome Come will be released later this month.
Jay-z did not save shit and does not run Def Jam any better than it was. LL cool J should have got that job as he was with Def Jam since day one and is a more reptable character then Jay.
When it comes to the rap game Jay-z aint shit and anybody older than 17 would know this. Motherfucker was not shit untill big got him in the game and 2pac dissed the shit out of him. No gives him credit unless they on his label.
In an interview he said he taught Beyonce how to dance better. WTF, this mother fucker is full of shit. There is no money in record companies like def jam any more. Independents make more money then anybody on a big label. Such as someone like c-bo or Jada who sell a couple of hundred thousand of records and get 5-10 bucks per cd instead of 1 per cd or 5 million dollar contract for 5 albulms (including cars and other stupid shit)
I am not a fan of Hip Hop rather a fan of RAP. I don’t feel any of jay-z music or his flow. you can’t take him seriously just like Kanye west.
Being from a tough hood does not make you “ghetto” there are still bitches in the ghetto and Jay-z was one of them.
I have been following the hip hop/rap bullshit for 20+ years and Jay z is not the best nor does not need to be mentioned in the top 20.
Jay-z is hip hop but pop and like I said earlier I belive LL cool J was more deserving then Jay not as ugly too.
There is a reason why he is on TV 24/7 becuase he pays big money for the publicity and his girl is more famous then he is.
