Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 1/15/07

There was very little movement on the charts in the urban world since last week. Alicia Keys regained the #1 spot, bumping Radiohead to #2. Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown and Keyshia Cole held rank, shifting down notches with the #3 addition of the Juno Soundtrack. Lupe Fiasco continues to be Hip Hop’s lone Top 25 artist, with the continued success of The Cool.

Further down the charts, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Birdman passed Soulja Boy, who fell considerably to #40. With his new video, this may be expected to surge though. As Jay-Z trudges towards the million mark, questions arise as to whether he’ll give the label he used to run another video single. Scarface and Wu-Tang Clan continue to pace towards 200,000 as no new Hip Hop releases broke the Top 200 this week.

With Lil Wayne tracks getting revealed and Nas cover art released, will there be chart warmth from the veterans or Flo-Rida and other newcomers in months to come?
