DX News Bits (Slip-N-Slide & The Core DJs)

Slip-N-Slide Records, known primarily for rap stars Trick Daddy, Plies and Rick Ross, has just signed a singer/songwriter to Jive Records. Qwote, another Florida-born star, has inked a deal in conjunction with Miami-based Final Cut Music Group as well.

With Reggae influences, the singer’s first single “Don’t Wanna Fight” will be released in two versions, a Reggae version and a R&B version featuring label-mate Trina. To date, Qwote has worked with stars such as Wayne Wonder and Shaggy. Slip-N-Slide CEO Ted Lucas said, “[Qwote] will demonstrate the next level that Slip-N-Slide Records is going
to. This year we are going to have exciting international songs and artists
cross barriers that we have never touched before.

In other news, The Core DJ’s will begin their annual retreat this year this weekend. Headed to New Orleans, the outfit will be joining forces with Polo Grounds Music Group and Fila to host a dinner to help raise money for five struggling families in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Founded in 2003, The Core DJ’s include such notables as Kid Capri, Big Tigger, Mr. Collipark and Clinton Sparks. The event will take place at Montrel’s Bistro in New Orleans tonight.
