It may very well be true that the pied piper of R&B cannot be stopped. Whether it includes longevity, relevance, or the law, he still continues to come back with something new.
R. Kelly has penciled 12 Play: Fourth Quarter in for a summer release date. The first single, “Hairbraider,” has been out for a few weeks now and has just recently cracked the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at #59.
The single features R. Kelly using a vocoder to change his voice, a mechanical technique that T-Pain has integrated into mainstream music.
12 Play: Fourth Quarter will be the fourth installment of the “12 play” series, which began with the 1993 release 12 Play. Since then, R. Kelly has release two other albums that followed in the same progression, TP-2.com and TP-3: Reloaded. Coincidently, this will be his twelfth studio album, which may be the reason he chose this one to finish off the tetralogy that is the “12th” series.
Snoop Dogg is set make a cameo appearance in two episodes of the ABC daytime soap opera One Life To Live. The long-running series has slated Snoop to perform at a bachelorette party in which he’ll perform the tracks “Sensual Seduction” and “Life of Da Party” in the show. According to reports, Snoop will also remix the theme tune to the soap, which will replace the original theme on the two episodes in which he is featured.
Though this may seem like an odd collaboration, Snoop has revealed he’s been an avid fan of the show for some time, saying:
“I’ve been a fan of One Life To Live since I was a baby. My momma always had it on the tube in the crib growing up. The opportunity to change up the theme song and give it some of my flavor will make the show the life of the party.”
The two episodes are scheduled to air next month.
