Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 5/18/08

    Hip Hop/R&B is back in a slump as Mariah Carey takes the #6 slot. E=MC2 sold 58,700 copies this week and was bested by new releases from Death Cab for Cutie, Frank Sinatra, Jason Mraz, Duffy and Leona Lewis respectively.

    Further down the charts at #17 Lyfe JenningsLyfe Change sold just under 21k this week followed by Rick RossTrilla at #27. The Miami mainstay sold 15,600 copies. The RootsRising Down took #38 with 13,400 sold as Atmosphere‘s When Life Gives You Lemons You Paint That Shit Gold came in at #65 this week with 10,000 sold.

    Flo Rida‘s Mail on Sunday still maintains its stance in the top 5 Hip Hop artists at # 79 with 9,000 sold. Foxy Brown‘s highly anticipated Brooklyn Don Diva held the #83 spot with 8,800 units sold. Snoop Dogg‘s Ego Trippin’ still falls short of gold, selling 7,700 this week and landing the #93 spot. Trina‘s Still Da Baddest took #97 with 7,300 sold. Duo Kidz in the Hall were a mere 44 CD sales away from sliding into the SoundScan top 200. The In Crowd sold just over 3,300 this week. Pastor Troy‘s Town Legend debuted with 1,700 sold.
