The Kidz in the Hall [click to read] are poised for a break through year. After their performance at San Bernardino’s Rock the Bells this weekend, Naledge took some time to speak with HipHopDX about a variety of issues. He was as open as he could be regarding their legal ordeal and he gave us a little known fact about Double O‘s possible new job title. He also shared his feelings on the Rock the Bells experience, what it means for the crew and what it means for you to witness it.
What is now a well publicized incident between Double O and security guards is costing the crew some legal woes.
“We’re facing criminal charges. They’re minor. They’re misdemeanors,” Naledge said after their performance, with Double O nearby sporting an eye injury under sunglasses. “We got lawyers on it. I’m confident we’ll come out alright. But, it’s just unfortunate we had to go through that cause it was a fun time and it was a fun night till that happened.“
Still, the incident did not put a damper on their Rock the Bells experience. “Hell naw!” Naledge said with a smile.
“This tour is making our career. This is a turning point in our career. We’re about to become stars. We’re doing it before your eyes. We take it seriously. This is our profession. If you’re balling, you want to play with Lebron [James]. If you’re rapping, you want to be amongst Rakim, Nas, Ghostface, [A Tribe Called Quest]…And they fuck with us, so if you don’t fuck with us, fuck you!”
Get ready for new music. The Kidz have some new material ready to be unveiled and a new dynamic may be added to their group.
“We doing that crazy! We holding on and not giving all the material out,” he noted before giving us some news on a development within the group.
“Double O‘s actually gonna start rappin’. People don’t know that, but I told him if he don’t get good enough by the time we do our next album, he ain’t gettin’ no verses, though!“
