RZA Featured On “The Black List: Volume 2”

    Wu-Tang Clan member and producer RZA [click to read] will join a list of prominent African American artists, academics, athletes, activists, and authors as one of the featured Hip Hop artists in HBO’s documentary The Black List: Volume 2.

    In the documentary, the featured subjects speak on the black experience in America and their personal struggles and triumphs as an African American.

    RZA explains how there is a “lack of history” when it comes to black history. Stating that, “My presence, our presence as a people, has always been there. It was just buried under a lot of sand.”

    Last year, HBO premiered the first ever Black List in August. The documentary was even featured in last years Sundance Film Festival.

    Originally meant to be a book entitled The Black List Project, The Black List was thought up by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders and Elvis Mitchell. All of the participants in The Black List: Volume 2 were interviewed by award-winning journalist Elvis Mitchell and the documentary is directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders.

    Aside from RZA, other people included in The Black List include Angela Davis, Laurence Fishburne, Tyler Perry, Maya Rudolph, and more. Last year, Hip Hop entrepreneur/rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs served as The Black List’s first Hip Hop subject.

    The Black List: Vol. 2 debuts tonight, February 26 on HBO at 8:00/9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
