Rick Ross Previews New Album

    On March 17, Miami rapper Rick Ross [click to read] previewed his upcoming album Deeper Than Rap to a group of industry insiders last night at a listening session in New York City.

    “I want everybody to know that it’s not only a listening event. This is history,” Rick Ross explained at the listening session. “History for The Boss. History for everybody that’s a part of this LP. Music is timeless…”

    As part of the listening session, Ross played nine tracks from his upcoming album, which will include appearances by Kanye West, Nas, The Dream, Mary J. Blige, and more.

    Held at a theater in the Tribeca Grand Hotel, the listening session also included several movie clips from classic gangster films such as The Godfather, Scarface, and New Jack City. Each movie clip was followed by a song from Deeper Than Rap.

    “The features on the album were excellent,” blogger Dallas Penn explained. Kanye West delivers knockout verses. Rick Ross’ third album may be his best one yet. The previous albums had popular singles but this album sounds listenable and very likable from beginning to end.”

    Deeper Than Rap is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, April 21.
