DX News Bits: Producer Edition

    In a video interview, producers Cool and Dre [click to read] discuss producing tracks for The Game’s current project R.E.D. Album.

    “We have that chemistry,” Cool explained. “I think a lot of producers would have cracked, but we’ll knock out like three, four in one night, one session. Like the first day we went to L.A…we were just playing ‘em. ‘Alright I’m ready to go in the booth.’ Boom, we knocked out like seven different ideas. Me and Dre are like ‘fuck, we done let all our arsenal off in this first night!’”

    Currently, there is no set release date for the R.E.D. Album, the album would be Game’s fourth.

    In other producer news, The Beatnuts [click to read] are just days away from starring in their first off-Broadway play. Ironically titled Deez Nuts, the play was written by Hip Hop journalist Sacha Jenkins.

    Deez Nuts will trail a journalist as he interviews The Beatnuts in their hometown of Corona, Queens.

    “It’s one thing to be a fan of The Beatnuts but it’s another to sort of be from the neighborhood and understand the people they’re name-checking, the references, the bodegas and all of the things they’re talking about in their music,”
    Sacha Jenkins told XXLMag.com. “I wanted a way to sort of bring that to life that goes beyond just listening to the music itself.”

    Deez Nuts will premiere at the Hip Hop Theatre Festival on October 1 and will run through October 3.
