Rapper/entrepreneur Jay-Z has given former business partner Dame Dash props for doing “a great job” when he was handling Rocawear.
In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily Jay-Z spoke on Dame Dash, Rocawear, and why he should have invested in Rihanna umbrellas.
“Dame did a great job when he was here,” Jay-Z explained to Women’s Wear Daily. “I just feel that I have a different way of running things, which I think is working out well. I let people make mistakes, and push them to be creative. I let a design team design…People are happy here. I’m not a controlling manager and I have a great team that makes me confident that things can run well when I’m on the road, and I’m proud of that.”
While Jay-Z has seized a number of business opportunities at Rocawear he revealed that one of his biggest regrets was not investing in Rihanna Rocawear umbrella’s after the tremendous success of Rihanna’s “Umbrella.”
“We really should have done some Rihanna Rocawear umbrellas when that song became a hit,” said Jay-Z. “We could have made a load of money on those. I’m still kicking myself.”
In other Jay-Z news, Jay-Z will join The Strokes, Pink, and a host of other performers as one of the acts for the Isle of Wight Festival.
The festival will take place at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight, England from June 11-13, 2010.
