After stints with Rawkus Records, Aftermath/Interscope Records and E1 Entertainment (f/k/a Koch Records), Brooklyn, New York emcee Joell Ortiz may be headed to SRC Records. UPDATE: After Rifkind’s tweet became news, XXLMag.com spoke to Joell Ortiz’s long-time manager Mike Heron, who clarified the reports. Heron explained that the relationship with Rifkind is a friendship, and the parties were more having a casual discussion. “It’s never been anything on paper or anything like that; it’s very, very informal with Steve. We’re having conversations with people,” was among the things Heron said.

Heron also spoke on Ortiz’s reported existing label obligations. Read the statements here.

      1. He was already with Interscope/Aftermath and was shelved with the rest of the crew that never came out. I don’t think he wants to go down that road again. SRC is a good place for him and Steve Rifkin knows how to market artists like him. In the 90’s his roster at Loud was Wu, Pun, and Mobb Deep. Joell fits right in that lane. Get that deal Ortiz!!!

      2. prolly coz shadys a wack label n eminem doesn’t give a fuck bout anyone but himself evident by him sitting back while Royce tore his group a new ass hole n evident by him sittin back while canibus made cunts outta them recently or evident by him not even bein willin to take 5 minutes out n doin a quick promo on the radio tellin his fans to check out Royces latest album since they where “friends” again or how he’s bein disloyal to 50 the last year

    1. idk, joell ortiz has been working on that album for awhile, and I wonder if it’s him trying to make it perfect or the label fucking witrh, either I’m getting tired of waiting, just about everybody on slaughterhouse release their shit.

    2. Good old Stevie Rifkind, the SRC guy, who raped Jae Millz, Maino and countless others with so called record deals.

Take a look what happened to Pharoahe Monch. Look how good the running gag of delaying release dates worked out for him.
