Black Moon front-man and co-founder of New York’s Duck Down Records, Buckshot will be releasing The Common Knowledgy of the Entertainment Industry this November 23. Having began his career as an intern at Hank Shocklee’s S.O.U.L. Records, Buckshot has transitioned from student to artist to leading one of Hip Hop’s most respected labels through 15 years of success.
According to a Duck Down press release, “The pamphlet is comprised of three stages. Buckshot first educates readers on the ‘Basics’ of the entertainment industry providing his definitions for terms associated within the business. Buckshot then transitions to the ‘Framework,’ or inner-workings of a music label and answers commonly posed questions that he receives from fans and interviewers. In the final stage, Buckshot unveils ‘How It All Works,’ and illustrates the process of putting the knowledge to use and executing proposed goals.”
Buckshot has had an integral role in helping launch the careers of artists such as Sean Price, Smif n’ Wessun and Skyzoo.
The digital release is broken into 13 chapters. The tracklisting is as follows:
14) How Do I Sell At Digital Retail?
15) What Is A Marketing Campaign?
16) Outro (September 15)
UPDATE: It has now been announced that this book has been delayed to January 25, 2011.

More like
“The Manual on how to keep your business from growing through a lack of investment and promotion”
or
“The manual on how to merely exist in the music industry”
merely exist? go listen to Enta Da Stage and Survival Skills you idiot..
No offense, but isn’t this like Chris Benoit writing a book about being a good husband and a dad? Buckshot’s career isn’t exactly the success story of a lifetime, after all.
if everybody has the answer why are they not successful buck
started with one group now he got 22
comparing buckshot to a dude that killed his wife, kid and himself. you sound like one of those dramatic analogy type of dudes. only on todays world could a person compare a successful real hip hop dude with a wife/child killer. damn fool!
nah, buck has done pretty well, there were a few years there when nobody was checkin for him. But the important thing is this is probably what anybody not involved with the majors needs to know. Lots of music industry advice for indy rock bands but not much for hip hop.
Reading some of thses blogs, i will let these half asses know, Duck Down hip hop is as good as any major release, its just street with out the radio and programing
