Immortal Technique Talks Hiatus & His Investments

Since his acclaimed 2008 album The Third World Immortal Technique has been under the radar. The Harlem rapper by way of Peru has certainly been busy though. HardknockTV caught up with Tech, where he talked about his recent activity and his upcoming albums.

“I went out to Afghanistan in order to solidify and complete the project, the green light project, of building a school and orphanage there with the money I raised through a series of shows and as a percentage of The Third World Album,” Tech said when asked where he’s been in the past two years.

“Besides that, I also travelled down to Colombia and Peru. Where I began a small part of development on the land that I purchased,” said Tech, rather than buying cars or jewelry like other rappers or listening to the banks’ advice. “I bought a huge farm about half the size of central park, I can do whatever I want, I grow whatever I want on it. If I had invested in these ridiculous little plans that the bank suggested for me, I’d probably have 60% of the money I have now instead of having triple the income and being able to provide sustenance for people.”

    1. Breath of fresh air to have a rapper actually living what he spits..revolutionary warfare series are classics…

    2. That’s what’s up, Immortal Technique. Glad to hear a rapper using their money wisely AND for good instead of dumb ass shit like “makin’ in rain.”

    3. Politically this dude makes a fool out of himself every time he opens his mouth, I can’t believe I bought into that shit back in the day…But I can’t hate on somebody actually out there making moves in the world like he is right now.

      1. example please………………………………………………………………………….crickets………..

    4. hiphopbaby76

honestly i never heard anything from this guy,but i must say he doing what we all need to be doing and thats put our money into something ike buying land or ike slick rick and buy apartment units. thunbs up for immortal tech

    5. yeah so fuck off all yall hip hop big willy’s, that ain’t got nothing better to do with ya money the buy blood diamonds and expensive ass champagne ….get it together assholes

      1. and you know those assholes that be on that fan shit aint even going to attempt reading or knowing about this nigga. They too hypnotized w/ the lifestyle they will never live!!

    6. Immortal Technique is da real deal yo. He spits nothing but real shit. For those that think he makes a fool of himself everytime he speaks (assassin), wake up yo, and read a fucking book instead of feeding into everything you see on da idiot box (TV for morons). There are to many Deaf, Dumb and Blind people in our society that believe everything that comes out of da “White” house and don’t take da time out to see both sides to a story. Respect to Tech for trying to wake up a sleeping society and showing people how to make real use with your money instead of investing in things that make you look like an entertaining puppet.

      1. Not all his lyrics are about Bush………but you don’t listen, so how would you know?

“fuck packing grams nigga/learn to speak and behave/ you wanna spend 20 years as a government slave/2 millions niggas keep the government paid/ stuck in an 8×10 cell alive in a grave!”

    7. I love Tech but he needs to stop growing fucking coffee in Peru and get in the studio. I mean all the shit he’s doing is good and all but the impact he can make as an artist and a voice of the people is much more than the impact he can make as a social worker. C’mon Tech get in the studio and get to work on Vol. 3!!

    8. this nigga don’t even make half the money that wayne, kanye, jay & em make and yet he has contributed directly twice as much as these mainstream capitalists assholes with their new wavy about what thw re music

immortal is the truth and i aint even on no fanaticism shit what he is doin is some real admirable shit!

and yo thank you finally not another story about what the fuck kane is doing!!

    9. I like this fucking guy! lol.

Real spit I remember when I was doing open mics’ at the Pyramid on Sundays Immortal was coming through performing and selling his independent album after he did his thing. And like a year later he waws in the magazines and getting noticed.

I think he dropped Revolutionary vol 1.

      Yeah hes a real person.

I remember he told the crowd to say fuck you.
They said it and then he said Fuck You too! lol. Classic Immortal. everbody in that shit was dying.

    10. Shyt if this is the reason why he hasn’t put out an album since 3rd World, you gotta respect that to the fullest. Still hope he can get back in the studio soon tho.

Other rappers should take notes but their too busy shopping.

    11. Keep it up my dude. Thanks NH for interview. I’m glad we got this going. Hopefully it opens a few more eyes to the reality of the world, not just the industry. Very few men have taken this path, but it doesn’t mean it has to continue that way. Lets just make it happen my people.
