In an interview with TheSermonsDomain.com Oakland rapper Mistah F.A.B. spoke on a variety of topics including his new project I Found My Backpack, the death of Hyphy, and his project with producer Alchemist.
The rapper explained that a number of people have placed the blame on him when it came to the lack of interest in hyphy music, a type of music that originated in the Bay Area in the ’90s.
“I felt like a lot of people try to blame me for the unsuccessful attempt of the Bay Area when they were thriving with the whole movement, things like that,” Mistah F.A.B. revealed to TheSermonsDomain.com. “People tried to put it on me, ‘Well you did the Yellow Bus stuff and if you [wouldn’t have] did that we would have made it.’ And I was like ‘Wow, really?’ I make my own lane. I did a lot of things. I helped a lot of people. And I did for a lot of people outside of music. And it was just funny to me how everybody was trying to look for somebody to blame.”
According to Fab his new project, I Found My Backpack, marks a return to his Hip Hop roots and is some of his “best work up to date.”
“It’s showing a plethora of styles as well as my ability to take one genre and borough it and dig deep down into it,” said Mistah F.A.B. “And show people that it’s bigger than just party music and things like that. I have a diversity as an artist and an ability to cover the board. I’m very broad with my style and the things I bring to the table.”
Mistah F.A.B. also revealed that a number of his projects, including one with Alchemist, have been delayed because of other endeavors.
“Me and Alchemist started working on our album then Eminem signed him up to [be] his deejay so he went on tour and got super busy,” F.A.B. explained. “But we got records. It’s just crazy cause we’ll start these records and we all get hectic schedules. You get busy…A lot of the projects I announce most of them are at least like 80 percent complete.”
Hyphy started dying when nobody could fill in the shoes of Mac Dre (RIP) and Keak Da Sneek, even E-40 could only go so far with “Tell Me When To Go”.
I dunno, even I was buggin’ when they started ghost riding whips and all that crazy shit, that was a little too retarded lol. I still like the YouTube video of the white boy doing it and some black kid shows up and steals his whip.
Agreed, They tried to continue what Mac Dre started and couldn’t do it. Can’t blame em, no one out there can compare to Dre
Fab.. Fam you a good freestlye rapper and thats about it. I can’t really diss you cause you got heart and try. But that Yellow Bus Shit and the video with the Ghostbuster Car…SMH!!! Well you pretty much shot yourself in the ass with the wackness.. I knew Hyphy wasn’t going nowhere and never supported it. You got dropped by Atlantic too, they wasn’t finna put a budget behind that shit you was talking. Like I said you a good freestyle rapper, but highly doubt you can sell mass records outside of the Bay Area. Learn to write dope songs with tighter concepts, cause that shit you on won’t pay the gas bill my nigga. You aint marketable enough!

I agree. Hyphy killed Hyphy. and only a few could do it. MAC DRE. besides that im anxious to hear what Mistah FAB is going to put out. His first album ‘son of a Pimp’ is vintage. Deep Content, versatile flows, and dope beats. what else do you need for a rookie album. hope he can comeback on the same tip.
