Talib Kweli Terminates Colt 45’s Partnership In Upcoming Kansas Show

Earlier this week rapper Talib Kweli was quick to shut down a possible partnership at one of the stops on his Gutter Rainbows Tour. According to Kweli, malt liquor brand Colt 45 was brought on to serve as a partner at his show in Lawrence, Kansas on April 20 without his knowledge.

Kweli then turned to his Twitter page to explain to fans that the show will go on, but without Colt 45 as a partner.

“To my fans in Lawrence Kansas the Granada Theater has partnered with Colt 45 without my knowledge to promote the show. We shut that down,” the rapper Tweeted on Tuesday, April 12. “So on 4-20 I will be at the Granada in Lawrence Kansas but Colt45 is no longer involved in the show promo. Thank yall (fans) for alerting me.”

The Gutter Rainbows Tour follows the January release of Kweli’s most recent studio album also titled Gutter Rainbows. The tour will stop in about 20 more cities before concluding in Orlando, Florida on May 7.

While Colt 45’s involvement in Kweli’s show next week was clearly unwelcomed other rappers are a little more accepting of the brand. In fact, just last month rapper Snoop Dogg teamed up with Colt 45 to endorse their latest product titled Blast By Colt 45.

    1. Much respect to Talib Qweli on that! He doesn’t just talk the talk! These alcohol companies rape the communities and don’t give anything back. It’s good to see somebody doing something about it!

      1. How do alcohol companies rape the communities? By selling a product that each person can decide whether or not to purchase and consume? Once again, the victim mentality that makes this country as fucked up as it is shows it’s ugly face again. Maybe people should stand up and take responsibility for their actions instead of blaming it on any other possible target. People are fucking pitiful.

      2. ALCOHOL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MOST OF THE IGNORANT GUN VIOLENCE IN THE INNER CITY ON A SATURDAY NIGHT.

THAT DOG LIQUOR MAKES YOU DO DUMB SHIT AND IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN MOST ILLEGAL DRUGS!!

    2. YEAH WHY ARE RAPPERS MARKETING ALCOHOL AND LETTING THESE SAME COMPANIES DETERMINE WEATHER OR NOT THE RAPPER IS MARKETABLE WHEN THE ALCOHOL COMPANY SHOULD BE THE ONE GETTING JUDGED UNDER A NEGATIVE LIGHT.

IT IS LIKE WHEN COCA-COLA (a company build off cocaine & Hennessey) TOLD KANYE THEY COULDN’T SPONSOR HIS TOUR WHEN IT IS KANYE WHO SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR HAVING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

      1. By doing songs with those rappers, Kweli can introduce himself to their audiences and reach a few new listeners with what he has to say.

Linking up with liquor companies ain’t in any way going to win him new fans from Colt 45 drinkers.

One endeavour is an artistic investment for him, one isn’t; so take your whining out of here.

    3. MUCH REPEKT YUNG WON. CUZ UP HUR WE GET PAYPER. HOE ASS NUKELHED. GUCCI MANE KNO WATS UP!

      BRRR

    4. To all the haters… Maybe he wanted to reach Gucci’s fans because if you listen to Talib’s music you would know he is the best to ever do it.

    5. complaining about the liquor store, but what you drinking liquor for?

props, talib. fuck all you haters bitching about this, you wouldn’t give a shit otherwise you just want something to complain about.

    6. Respect to Talib. I do believe he DOES drink but that doesnt mean he should promote all beers and wines!

    7. If some of you stupid fucks would read a book or go to school, you would know that drinking alcohol in Islam is forbidden. Kweli is a devout Muslim, so obviously he is going to end the partnership, dickweeds
