According to a news release by U.S. Attorney Jim Letten’s office, of the Eastern District of Louisiana, rapper B.G. was charged in a three-count indictment with being a felon in possession of a firearm and conspiracy to obstruct justice. In November of 2009, B.G., whose real name is Christopher Dorsey, faced weapon possession charges stemming from a traffic violation search. The following February, B.G. pleaded not guilty to the charges, telling HipHopDX that the guns were not in his vehicle when he entered it, and he did not know how they got there.
A report by the New Orleans Times-Picayune states B.G. would face additional penalties due to being a convicted felon, as well as the charge of conspiracy to obstruct justice.
“Dorsey, a convicted felon, allegedly conspired with two other men to get an associate, who was inside the vehicle, to claim ownership of the guns, according federal prosecutors,” The Times-Picayune reports. “Dorsey allegedly pushed Demounde Pollard, 19, to sign a false affidavit that said Dorsey did not possess the guns. Both Pollard and Jerod Fedison, 29, have pleaded guilty in federal court on related charges.”
After enjoying early success with Cash Money both as a soloist and a member of the Hot Boys, B.G. left the label after falling out with Cash Money co-founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams. The post Cash Money projects Life After Cash Money, Life In The Concrete Jungle and Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood would all spend time on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 chart.
