Chicago Rapper Lil Reese Becomes Def Jam Recordings Newest Signee

It has only been a matter of weeks since it was announced that rapper Chief Keef would be signing to Interscope Records and it looks like yet another young Chicago artist has been picked up by a major label. Earlier today Def Jam Recordings announced in a press release that 19-year-old, Chicago rapper Lil Reese has signed with the label.

In the press release Def Jam president Joie Manda went on to express the labels excitement in recruiting an artist with a unique perspective of the Midwest.

“Lil Reese brings a gritty, authentic perspective to life on the streets of Chicago,” said Manda in a statement. “It’s fitting that one of our brightest A&R executives, No I.D. – a fellow Chicago native and superproducer in his own right – brought Reese to us. Artists like Reese are part of our lifeblood here at Def Jam, where we not only cherish our heritage as the definitive label in hip-hop, but seek out, sign and develop the freshest talent our culture has to offer.”

Although his signing announcement was made just this week Lil Reese already has plans on releasing his DJ Drama and DJ Don Cannon hosted mixtape, Don’t Like. Don’t Like will be released on Wednesday, July 4th.

Lil Reese gained immediate viral fame thanks to his track “Us” which has gone on to receive over 300,000 views on YouTube; the rapper is also a member of the O.T.F. (Team 3 HUNNA) crew.

    5. This kid did the same thing Flesh N Bone did back in the day. Bone Thugs signed with Ruthless and Flesh signed with Def Jam. Funny how history repeats itself. He should at least see a gold album, but Chief Keef is going to see platinum over there with Dr. Dre on Interscope.

^ funny how people say it ain’t the 90’s anymore, but expect 90’s magic when it’s a Dre track…you might want to lower your expectations, these kids ain’t put any work in yet.

FYI….many rappers have been signed to Interscope and Def Jam and ain’t do sh_t…..
