Kendrick Lamar Moves “good kid, m.A.A.d city” Release Date To October 22

Kendrick Lamar is at work on his major label debut good kid, m.A.A.d city, releasing October 2nd. While he’s worked with Gunplay and Dr. Dre on a few pre-album leaks, K. Dot says that guest features will be kept to a minimum on the project, explaining to CBC Music that the LP will be organic and that no collaborations will be forced.

“I’m selfish – it’s all me,” he said. “I’ve got to pick what feels right. I never go into it thinking, ‘I want to get these people on there.’ No, I don’t force nothing and right now it’s turning out to be all me.”

He did confirm that his Black Hippy crew, which also includes ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock, will make appearances on the album. But even as his profile continues to rise – he was recently featured on XXL magazine‘s cover with Dr. Dre – he doesn’t feel the need to call on big name favors.

“People get in this position and feel like they need the big producers, the big artists,” he said. “Nah – I’m still hungry. I want to show and prove to the non-believers.”

    1. Cant fucking wait. Nas a
Bum number one, K.dot doing what he feels. Hip hop is becoming hip hop again. After these Ymcmbs and Mmgs go away it’ll be a new day. Stanley’s dope though

    2. Hope Interscope dont fuck this one up! Leave Kendrick alone and let him do what he wants on his album and it will sell!

      1. when it leaks ima download it to check it out… if i like it i’ll buy it, if i don’t dislike it i’ll probably keep it and if it sucks then it’ll get deleted

    3. big up K-Dot. it’s refreshing to see one of the newer artists attempting to hold an album down on their own, rather than filling it up with a bunch of features.

    4. Obviously kendrick dont need it, he doing a illmatic right here. Not like when cole said he had an illmatic and flopped with sideline story either. Kendrick 1000x better than cole

      1. Probably Kendrick, he’s in his prime and has a new sound, Nas still has an old school sound but still really good though

    5. He’s gonna prove the haters wrong and gain more fans when this drops. Don’t act like TDE don’t run LA!

    6. It is gonna be un-real how many people jump on the Black Hippy bandwagon when these niggas drop their albums.

    7. Better without the features, he don’t need to lower his lyrics to make everyone on the track sound as good as each other

    8. i feel like a verse from andre 3000 would fit in perfectly on this album if it sounds anything like section 80

      1. this is why hip hop can never progress. cause you fuckers can’t stop comparing shit to the past instead of just appreciating new artists.

      1. Nah, Kendrick’s a better rapper than J. Cole. Hands down. J. Cole is a dope producer though, I hope he produced some songs on this album.

      2. Cole and Kendrick are supposed to be makin something together and cole actually produced hiiipower. I don’t know if you can compare cole and kendrick they are definitely in my opinion the best out right now. Keep it 100

    9. FUCK YEAH! If this album is even half as good as Section.80 I’ll be blasting that shit for the next 12 months, no lie.

    10. K Dot Sucks Anyways Fuck Kendrick Lamar , Fuck Dr Dre Fuck Detox Fuck Aftermath Records Those Old Mother fuckers Need To Retire Its Weezy Babeh

      1. curtis young aint shit tyga’s way better than the wack ass prince of compton tyga has worked with kurupt, game , young jeezy and curtis worked with no one cuz he aint shit FUCK CURTIS YOUNG THAT LIL PUNK YOUNG MONEY BITCH’S

    11. You’re killing me Kendrick !!!

I know dude wanna perfect his debut but he gotta letta this shit drop, it will sell no matter what. Pushing it back is unnecessary.

      1. I don’t think he cares if it sells by dropping it early. Most real artist are perfectionists of the actual art not the return.

      1. feel the same way about the track. feel the same way about them three. def the best in the game but that beat by cole was one of his worst.

    12. Raise your hand if you really thought it was coming out on Oct 2nd. A push back can only be a good thing. More time to perfect things and get the pub right

      1. They’ve been saying it’s finished for 8 months. This isn’t about finishing touches etc. this is about getting more singles out for more exposure.

    13. Kendrick is going to change the game when ‘Good Kid, Made City’ comes out. I honestly didn’t think he would top ‘Section 80’, but when he dropped ‘Control System’, I couldn’t believe the growth. The reason why he is the best is because Dr. Dre (Best Producer Ever) has co-signed him by signing him, and now Kendrick has worked with Lady Gaga (Best Pop Artist/Biggest milestone collab in Hip-Hop ever), and I couldn’t be happier for Kendrick. #HighPower

      1. Kendrick lamar aint shit fuck him his rap is boring, young money bitch dedication 4 comming soon its going to shut old aftermath down lil wayne is AFTERMATH

    14. DAMMIT! Been waiting for good music since 1998! Well, I guess when I put it that way, 3 more weeks won’t hurt lol.

      1. ^^^ Kendrick Lamar was just underground like last year. You’re ALREADY hating on him, smh at hip hop heads.

    15. This Mack Dime and I say fuck YMCMB them niguhs is on some other shit. They never pushed my niguh G.Malone album that was a classic! Fuck all them niguhs and Wanye too greatest rapper shit niguh is trash on Q.S.B. Kendrick is that niguh he is the west right now I like the little niguh. I cosign that niguh I fucks with the CPT all day. everyday

    16. IT WILL BE PUSHED BACK AGAIN HE DONT HAVE A HIT AND DRE DONT CARE ABOUT HIS CAREER HE COUNTING THAT HEADPHONE MONEY KDOT SHOULD HAVE SIGNED WITH YMCMB BECAUSE YMCMB CARES ABOUT IT ARTIST AND KDOT IS A BIG WAYNE FAN

16 LETTERS YMCMB OVOXO MMG WTB

      1. you are crazy why would he sign to a label that wouldnt advance his craft, not saying its a bad label but from a personal stand point u can see him going a long way where he is and becoming part of a legacy building his own empire and further more he stays true to the west enough said

      2. I do agree that Dre is the king of puttin things off. At the same time I don’t think you can put this delay on Dre. I believe he is giving Kendrick the freedom to hold it until he’s absolutly ready to drop it
