Chicago, Illinois rapper Lil Durk was the latest high-profile signing from Glory Boyz Entertainment. Following major label deals for Chief Keef and Lil Reese, Durk is believed to have secured Def Jam Records backing through French Montana’s Coke Boys label.
XXLMag.com recently asked Durk how he met the Bad Boy/Maybach Music Group/Interscope Records sensation. “We was just politicking through Twitter, then I came up here to get some Slowbucks gear. I started working with Slowbucks, then they introduced me to him.”
While Twitter and clothing brands may have connected them, it really did not take much more for Durk to see the value in becoming a Coke Boy. “[French Montana] called me and motivated me. He told me, like, ‘I’m not forcing you, but when you ready to move, just holla at me.’ The music and the stuff I’m doing is good, but sometimes you feel like you’re at a standstill and you just need that representative. Like you got to get embraced by somebody, ’cause at the end of the day it’s all about publicity. You’re going to need it, I don’t care who you are.” In the end, Durk made that decision.
Chicago’s current Hip Hop movement is discussed in XXLMag.com’s full interview with Lil Durk.

Ok…so you’re a Chief Keef flunkie, that’s signed to a dude who’s signed to P.Diddy…
smart kid.
He’s smarter than you to know that you need that co-sign. Fuck outta here!!!
a French Montana co-sign doesnt carry a lot of weight considering his whole career has been built off co-signs and features
bad bad move
Who are you to say somebody made a bad decision? Your just a guy on the internet. You have no idea what business is. If you did you would be in the rap game. Fuck outta here!!!
neither do you a so all wall streets should be in the rap game huh?
I bet he gonna regret signing that shit once he sees what French sold first week out with all that promo and industry co-signs.
How you gonna move 50k first week with on Bad Boy/MMG/Interscope with 42 features?
If this was the late 90’s he would have probably done at least 100,000. He has one hit single, so it’s not a total flop.
100k in the late 90s first week on bad boy/ interscope would be considered a huge flop
If your boss only selling 50k what does that mean for Durk?
Lol prob 3k-5k the most..haha
French montanna tho??? Lol this lil durk guy sucks anyway.
career over before it even started
hating ass broke ass blogging niggas
not our fault this guy just committed career suicide

“100k in the late 90s first week on bad boy/ interscope would be considered a huge flop”
Mase’s second album sold 107,000 back in 99′ without major promotion. That’s far from a flop.
