Battlecat Suffers Heart Attack, Hospitalized

Veteran Los Angeles, California deejay and producer Battlecat was hospitalized Thursday (July 25) after suffering a heart attack. DubCNN.com reported the incident, which still has details pending. A source close to Battlecat last night wished to remain anonymous, but told HipHopDX that he believed the artist’s health had since stabilized.

Battlecat, whose name is Kevin Gilliam, has produced singles such as Kurupt’s “We Can Freak It,” Tha Eastsidaz’ “G’d Up,” and Lucy Pearl’s “You.” After producing Dana Dane’s entire 1995 LP, Battlecat also released his own Gumbo Roots album in the 1990s, which featured Kam, Ras Kass, and Dre’sta.
