      1. shouldnt have flushed it. should have pressed up a million copies. it woulda been hotter than illmatic cuz it was still fresh.

    1. In a recent sit-down with the New York Times Magazine, when Kelis was asked about Nas using her wedding dress for the cover of Life is Good, she replied:

Its not even the dress. The joke behind that is that its the slip to the petticoat to my dress. I think when I moved out I just left it. Thats all he had, poor thing.

She also noted that she wasn’t worried about the album possibly bringing up past issues. “Maybe for others, but not for me,” she said. “I dont really listen to his music anyway.”

      1. It’s more of a comparison, than a back-pat session. 20 years old is a huge time of change for most people, i’d bet. Outside of Sharath, the rest of the staff was basically in full self discovery mode. Illmatic resonates similarly, except Nas crafted an opus. That’s another reason the project was so incredible. Here’s this 20 year old kid who dropped a collection of songs that changed Hip Hop and the world. Most of us above were still figuring out the world within. Thank you for the comment, Anonymous. We appreciate you reading.

      2. I agree with Justin. We didn’t do this to salute ourselves, we did this to reflect on what our moves were back then. For a lot of us, music and writing gave our twenty year old selves a focus. While we didn’t put together a classic album, we still had something to say at that age and were learning to shape it. Thanks for your thoughts though, Anonymous. Would call you by name, but you didn’t provide one.

    2. rap music isn’t real music. it’s just a delusion. i been part of the culture for 30 years. i was at an ice t concert with less than 20 people in the 80s. i lived it all my life and i am telling yall it is striaght bullshit.
