President Donald Trump took to Twitter yesterday (January 24) to comment on the ongoing violence in Chicago.
“If Chicago doesn’t fix the horrible ‘carnage’ going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!” Trump tweeted.
Earlier today, TMZ briefly caught up with Common at LAX to get his response to the President’s proposed plans.
“I feel to help Chicago, we gotta take care of our own,” Common said. “Within the community, we gotta do things. There’s a lot of people out there already organizing and doing things. We need our state local people to do things. We don’t need that mentality so I’m not focused on the President right now. I’m focused on helping the people in the city and how we can do it.”
When asked if Trump’s plan to send in the authorities is a bad idea, Common simply responded with some laughs: “You think?”
Common is too busy making movies and music to help Chicago. Shit dudes is in LA (LAX).
Common is one of the few Chicago celebs that is actually invested in the fate of his hometown. The fact that he does make films & music and still finds time to offer opportunities for upcoming artists is dope.

Common needs some Common Sense put into him. In Chicago, it’s the same thing on the news everyday; shootings, police corruption, and poverty. While it is true that some people are trying to make change, it’s not enough. It doesn’t help that we have a Rahm Emanuel, a stuck up prick of a mayor not doing shit when he knows there are problems. Yeah sure Eddie Johnson is the new police chief, but that’s not enough. I think the feds DO need to come to the city to straighten out the carnage. The same method(s) to “resolve” the issues hasn’t. There needs to be a new approach to resolve the issues of gun violence, poverty, and police corruption. This is more than just an issue of race; It’s an issue of the city of Chicago.

Perhaps we need to invest more into education in these same neighborhoods.
