XXL Lists “15 Hip Hop Songs That Name Drop Maya Angelou”

    Maya Angelou’s passing, which was reported yesterday (May 28), inspired a XXL list featuring several lyrics that were  

    “Word evangelist / Diabolical vandalist,” Jean Grae raps on “Killin’ Em.” “Infamous / Maya Angelou with Marlon Brando shit.”

    Another rhyme highlighted on the list comes from Dilated Peoples’ Rakaa Iriscience. 

    “I’m on that Richard Pryor, Bruce Lee,” Rakaa rhymes on “Olde English.” “Muhammad Ali / Bob Marley / Jimi Hendrix, Salvador Dali / Now we rap Langston Hughes / And Maya Angelous / Out the disco Xanadu / Hip Hop for the streets.” 

    Kanye West’s “Hey Mama” and Wale’s “The Artistic Integrity” are also on the list, which is available on XXL

    Maya Angelou’s work with Common on “The Dreamer” is also on the list. It’s below.

    1. im trying to figure out where is the list with the 15 hip hop songs..if its in that video im at work and I don’t have time to look at that video!!
