If by on a roll, you mean rolling on hallucinagenic drugs, then yes, he certainly is. It’s terrible man. It’s like listening to Ol’ Dirty on his second album. The drugs have outweighed the talent. He’s just getting on the mic and doing anything, and recording it. These songs aren’t even mixed down and mastered. He wasn’t written a rhyme in years, you can tell. It’s almost insulting to his listeners. He just figures he can turn the mic on and do anything over any beat and people will say it’s brilliant ’cause it’s Mos Def. This shit is absolute junk. He’s gonna sober up and be embarrassed about these songs one day.
this and all the music he has put out the last 5 years …ever since he signed with good music…SUCKS..to much singing about nothing and isolation makes his music non relatable …like what the fuck r u talking about…. it sounds like you’re making music not caring about the business …but make something that won’t make you look like Ali in the ring at the end of his boxing days…don’t tarnish your legendary status but putting out low quality, rushed music….like some wave gone come from a weak effort …..must have been away from Brooklyn too long…who is letting him put out these weak records….the mic sounds like he’s in his closet…and i bought dos first album when i was in 10th grade…fav song was mathematics produced by primo….and as a fan I’m disappointed .
First off… he’s not dropping music to compete or to go platinum anymore. Yall actin like He aint announce he was retiring in January and before that has given us over a decade of classics. Wtf … Let that man clear his soul ! He’s been creating for over 20 years and it’ll never be a easy thing for him to let go.
Only mistake is he’s not performing his songs to live band which would warrant his level of improvisation. Performing songs like these sonically over looped beats sounds bad. Yasiin needs Mos to compete in order to channel his best. Un-inspired
YB’s been on a bit of a roll as of late. 3.5

Not great, but not as bad as everyone is saying.
