Controversial Rap Album Covers Listed

Miami Rap group 2 Live Crew made headlines with its obscene lyrics and album covers showing women in scantily clad clothing, most notably on 1989’s As Nasty As They Wanna Be.

XXL made a list of “50 of the Most Controversial Rap Album Covers” since that landmark project.

The site includes the Geto Boys’ We Can’t Be Stopped album cover. The project, which was released in 1991, features an image of Bushwick Bill in the hospital after being shot in the eye by his girlfriend.

Kool G. Rap & D.J. Polo’s Live and Let Die made the cut. The cover art for the 1992 album shows two White men being hung and two other men wearing ski masks.

The cover for Eminem‘s Slim Shady LP is also on the list. The purple and white art features a car with its trunk open, which houses what appears to be a body.

    1. Can’t beat Bushwick and the Geto Boys. He got shot in the fkin face and they took homie out of the hospital for “We Can’t Be Stopped.” That’d be like 50 gettin shot 9x and him bein on the cover in the hospital… come to think about it, that would have been hot.

    2. Man all I know Esham for is his gross ass album covers. I have never heard any of his shit before there, I wasn’t brave enough haha
