Kendrick Lamar “To Pimp A Butterfly” Album Signing Brings Out Fans In Compton

Kendrick Lamar spent time with fans in Compton yesterday (March 21) where he hosted an album signing for his new album, To Pimp A Butterfly.

According to ABC7, more than 2,000 fans showed up at the Best Buy in Compton to meet the TDE rapper.

“It feels good to be back in my city, to go out here and see these kids still motivated by my music and by my dreams and aspirations,” Lamar told ABC.

“I wanna say thank you,” he added. “Thank you for believing in me since day one. I’ve been doing my thing on the underground scene for years, you know, proud to be putting out any albums. These the same people that have been rocking with me so I want to say thank you for believing in me and I believe in you the same, so as long as we believe in each other, I will continue to do this music.”

Kendrick Lamar released To Pimp A Butterfly to critical acclaim earlier than planned last week. Several days later, news broke that Lamar had established a new single-day Spotify streaming record after the album was listened to more than 9.6 million times on the day of its release.

      1. None of those people looked like extras or studio execs, they look more like fans. Make up all the lies you want. Doesn’t change the fact that Kendrick has a dedicated fanbase who supports him.

    1. Has Drake ever held an album signing in his suburban neighborhood? We all know he aint really from Toronto aka the 6.

    2. am I the only one that thought the album was interesting deep and Kendrick is a really smart mc but as a whole after multiple plays its boring I aint even thinking of replaying it for a long time

      1. Nope me and my friends feel the same, like two decent songs on the whole album, way too much funk and Motown vibe and it sounds like beat poetry more than anything. Just not impressed for such an anticipated album after 3 years absence for being the next “greatest” thing. J Cole, logic and drakes last albums all popped all over this new one. And yelawold, mgk, eminem, 50, and possibly Wayne are all dropping this year also. Kendrick better not get a Grammy or even a nomination

      2. ^ Both of you are tripping. This is one of the best albums of recent years. And you wishing for him not to get a Grammy isn’t gonna make it true. J Cole, Logic, and Drake’s albums are not better.

    3. Wack beats and can’t stand dudes voice. Not sure what all the hype is about.
