Lil Wayne & Young Money Waiting To “Unlock These Chains,” According To Cortez Bryant

Weeks after Cortez Bryant, manager to rapper Lil Wayne, stated that things are “good” at Cash Money Records during an interview with TMZ, he has gone on to issue an in-depth response to the recent shakeup at Cash Money.

Bryant took to Instagram to offer his thoughts on Lil Wayne and the other artists signed to Cash Money. He gave credit to Weezy for turning his dream for Young Money into a reality and also credited the rapper for launching the careers of Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga.

For those hoping for a specific update on Lil Wayne’s standing at Cash Money, Bryant did not offer an update on Wayne’s label situation, but did state that he and Young Money are waiting to “unlock these chains.”

“@LilTunechi built Young Money from his dreams to reality,” Cortez Bryant said in a post uploaded to Instagram, according to HotNewHipHop.com. “Launched the careers of @Drake @NICKIMINAJ @Tyga not from their talent but from the belief in what he saw that they saw in themselves and put everything in making sure they fulfill their dreams! That’s what Young Money is about That’s the DNA of the real Lil Wayne Sacrifice himself to want his artist to be better! And for all our other artists that’s been loyal from the beginning and patiently waiting for their number to be called! That’s coming too! The world also will see what Wayne saw in them that’s Jae Millz Gudda Cory Gunz Lil Twist Shanell ! Once we unlock these chains It’s on Young Money.”

Late last year, Lil Wayne expressed his indifference with Cash Money in a series of tweets.

“To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it. This is not my fault,” Lil Wayne said in a series of tweets sent in early December. “I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation. I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy. I am a prisoner and so is my creativity Again,I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u.”

    1. cant front – if they actually reward all the artists who been on shelve for all these years with studio album releases – indie or not – i got nothing but respect for this.

      1. Baby’s laughing hysterically right now. After 15+ years Wayne finally realized Baby’s been leading him around by the balls the entire time.

    2. I’m kinda glad this is all happening, but kinda sure it’s a publicity stunt. Anyway, about “Unlocking these chains?” Nucca, Lil Wayne will always be chained…to WACKNESS *everybody on HHDX gives Zab stellar high 5s!*

    3. FUCK YEAH, looks like we’re finally gonna get that Chanel West Coast album we’ve all been waiting years for.

    4. Wayne and anyone under young money that supports him during this time is likely part of the Zulu nation (another name for illumanti), a group which makes bullshit up in order to convince them to sign to Gay Z. Drake and Nicki thankfully aren’t supporting wayne’s bullshit.

    5. Kinda sad Wayne is even in a situation like this at this point in his career. You’d think someone that has been in the game as long as he has would’ve realized years ago to ensure that he could always walk away from any situation he wasn’t comfortable in anymore. He shouldn’t be in a situation where he owes Baby anymore albums….not sure if that’s the case or what.

    6. Oh…I’m all for Wayne leaving and everything…but maybe Baby is doing everyone a favor and the album is just not that good and shouldn’t be released….just saying.

Does seem like a good publicity stunt to try and get Tha Carter V to open with another million records sold its first week…..

      1. Birdman did say his tha carter 5 album still needed work and wayne disagreed. I’m glad wayne’s finally waking up though. hopefully, he will go to the tha carter 2 days where he was good.

    7. Oh, and my comments were sarcasm by the way. Wayne should have stayed with cash money, the label that helped not just his career but his life.

    8. Tha Carter 5 was shaping up to be crap where as his last albums were classics and it would only hurt wayne if it was released as it was. Cash Money was just trying to help him and he bit the hand that fed him.

      1. All of his albums before C5 sucked. Birdman got greedy and started hanging with Young Thug and ignoring Wayne. Cash Money bit the hand they were feeding, not the other way around.

    9. this is the same guy who said shit was cool when it wasnt now hes releasing another statement which is probably bullshit as well….
