What separates Yela from a lot of other rappers who may be more lyrical is his beat choice and songwriting ability. Yela can tell stories and the soundscape of his music puts you right where he wants you too be.
If Mos Def or Kweli made this song you would say they are saving hip hop. This song got a classic vibe to it and Yela is getting better in the delivery department.
The hottest white rapper besides Eminem would be Vinnie Paz or Apathy but where’s their love?
This one gets a 3 at best… and I’m a Yela fan. Not his best work, very hard to follow flow, choppy and disjointed. Interesting concept, and funny, but the song just doesn’t work as anything other than a novelty. Glad this didn’t make it to Trunk Musik 0-60. And when the hell are ya’ll gonna get over the color bullshit?
