In an age of constant delays and pushbacks it’s nice to get a single a few hours after a track list. New music from The Roots’ “Undun” featuring Big K.R.I.T.

    1. the Roots!! always dope.
Yo check out Lowkey’s new album Soundtrack to the Struggle, it’s amazing.
DX probably wont review it though.
Just like they didn’t review One Be Lo’s new one L.A.B.O.R, which is also dope

      1. There is no such thing as “real” hip hop. there’s hip hop and rap. Cole is hip hop and somewhat rap because he is mainstream and he has to sell records. But you can’t say Cole isn’t hip hop. He one of the hardest in the game right now.

      2. @ Anonymous I agree with you except bout the rap part, rap stand for rhyme and poetry, you can’t classify someone as rap just because there someone mainstream, that makes no sense

but J. Cole is one of the best our right now

    2. boring? yeah, just a bit
not a bad track tho 2/5
im not a fuckin hater b4 u fucktards start, im judgin this on my own opinion.

      1. has to be a young money fan. I understand everyone has an opinion but on what terms can you give this a 2/5? Musically there’s so much going on,perfect engineering, great beat/melody, introspective verses (not the same rappin about bitches), live instrumentation. Thats more than you can say about 80% of the songs that come out on this site weekly. And a 2/5???

      1. By “old people rap” you must mean good music. Youngins typically aren’t familiar with the Roots or similar type artists because they aren’t promoted via radio, b.e.t., etc. and Black Thought don’t spit phony bullshit. What’s that? Intelligent rap with a message? Damn yo, that shit is wack yo. Live instrumentation, wtf? You call that hip hop yo? The youth generation is only familiar with the cookie cutter music.

      2. I just turned 19 a little while ago but I was always bumping how I got over during my 3rd period computer graphics class. Just cuz there dumbass teenagers doesn’t mean all of us little to gay shit

    3. I don’t care what anybody says but Black Thought has always been one of the great rappers out there and I can say the same for Big K.R.I.T. as well.

      1. Umm no, your’re forgetting about Malik B. so u cant say every roots album…I guess phrenology and the tipping point would be the closest to a solo…

      1. Had to bitch about something huh? Since it oculdn’t be about the song, it was the art huh?

You all are the fucking same. Just whining bitches.

      1. Soft as butter is that gay shit you boyfriend drake be spittin. This is music from real musicians not some puppet as gimmick bitches.

    4. Dis track is straight butta w/ syrup on pancakes. I mellowed out for a min, had to come back to reality. ill be seeing The Roots on sat at our state fair in Cola, SC

    5. I don’t care about singles, or mix tapes. I just want the album. The roots is one, if not the most consistent Hip-hop album makers.

Questlove and Black Thought are underrated.

    6. so fuckin pure.. how can anyone say anything bad about this crew? they are always always always on point 100 percent go harder than any other group just fuckin fantastic

    7. I’m a lifelong Roots fan, been to about 10 shows and I think BT is by far the most underrated ever When it boils down to it he might be the best ever.
Having said that this song isn’t so great to me. Maybe it’ll grow on me like similar tracks on past albums have.

    8. I like it but I don’t like it. 3.5 stars for now until I hear how this track plays in with the rest of the album.

    9. And the nominations for BEST HIP HOP SONGS of the year thus far goes to…

      1)The Roots-Make My.
      2)Common-Blue Sky.

      1. Big K.R.I.T gets my nomination for verse of the year thus far

Really??? I admit that Big Krit came TUFF on his verse…but I wouldn’t call what he did ‘VERSE OF THE YEAR,’ or even Krit’s best verse…did you even listen to Black Thought’s verse??? Big Krit is dope but he’s alwayz been a more straight-forward passionate emcee…but on his verse…Black Thought brings the passion, creative wordplay, & crazy metaphors, where you have to read in-between the lines to truly appreciate!!! Have you even listened to Common’s “Blue Sky” verse???

      2. Yeah I did listen to Black Thoughts verse, many times. Black Thought was dope as always. I’m nto even a Big K.I.R.T fan, never listened to him before yesterday. But I’m sticking by my statement.

    10. Man This Is Hip-Hop at its best, we need more music from the roots, as well as common. Im sick of people debating all this garbage music and not giving props to the real. 5/5

      1. i thought you were serious until i read your name. i was about to say just blow your eardrums out now so we won’t have to hear your opinions on music ever again lol.
