HipHopDX Premiere: After sharing his open letter to Kendrick Lamar involving the lawsuit he won against Universal/Interscope/TDE, Jonathan Emile is moving forward and has presented his latest visual, “Niccolò,” from his Phantom Pain project. Directed by King Richard, the video paints Emile as a person somewhat involved in a dichotomous situation. One one hand, he’s surrounded by luxury and fancy clothes, but at the same time, he’s trapped wanting to deliver a message of class struggle and resistance. The song was inspired by Florentine Renaissance historian, politician, diplomat, philosopher, humanist, and writer Niccolò Machiavelli.

In the song, he also addresses his struggles with the music industry and how it ultimately affected his career while touching on the Machiavellian strategies that he experienced and ultimately may have to employ to survive in Hip Hop. Watch the video above and check out Phantom Painhere.
