Veteran West Coast rapper Kokane (real name Jerry B. Long, Jr.) details the birth of gangsta rap and his role as one of G-Funk’s architects in the first episode of The Preview, an eight-minute clip curated by the rapper himself. As one of three episodes, the inaugural video delivers a timeline of Kokane’s immersion into the world of Eazy-E, N.W.A manager Jerry Heller, 2 Pac, and Snoop Dogg.

“History can only be told through ‘his-story,'” Kokane tells DX. “But in 2017, people want to see and hear the truth. The legend continues.”
