HipHopDX Premiere: On one serendipitous weekend afternoon, Attic Tapes (otherwise known as Fishtown Beats) was digging through vinyl at his favorite record store when he stumbled upon a unique saxophone riff on a rare record. A few hours later, he was playing the skeleton for a smooth instrumental off his SP-404, while rappers MH the Verb and Drusef freestyled in his living room. The result was the jazz-infused “Getaways” and the crew is here with a visual to go along with it.

“I started writing some bars of this verse on the Megabus a few nights before on my way back from NYC,” MH (Marcus Harris) The Verb said in a press release. “I spend a lot of time in coffee shops and I’m always meeting really interesting people with different stories. The first verse is very much a reference to many of the conversations I have these days when I meet girls. There’s so much going on in the world and so many people with different points of view. I find the art of conversation to be a great release from my own world. Hence the concept of a ‘Getaways.’ The video shows all three of us doing what we love to do: hanging around the streets of Fishtown, Philadelphia and digging crates for vinyls. Long live records. Long live pure Hip Hop.”

“Getaways” is the second single from the forthcoming ArtHouse95 Vol. 1 EP, the follow up to Owl EP. Check out the video above.
