De La Soul was the musical guest on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” Tuesday night (September 27), and performed “Memory Of” off the new album, And The Anonymous Nobody. While killing time backstage, Questlove of The Roots decided to seize the moment, and ask Dave, Posdnuos, and Maseo some fan-generated questions.

One question of particular interest was asked by a fan named “Too Fat Canada,” who asked about a De La Soul/The Roots collaboration. As De La teases Questlove that he set that up, The Roots drummer assures them he didn’t. While he didn’t directly answer the question, he did say, “There’s some news out there that’s going to rock the Hip Hop world when a well-known established rapper might play the Billy Preston to somebody’s Beatles, so can I join De La Soul?”

The three also talked about how they came up with the name “De La Soul,” Posdnuos’ name’s origin, and why Dave changed his name from Trugoy the Dove, and more. Check out the performance of “Memory Of” featuring Estelle below.
