Harlem battle rap vet Murda Mook stopped by Hot 97’s studio and showed listeners what he was made of during a freestyle on Funk Flex’s newly minted freestyle show.

With lines like, “Lately I’ve been getting mentioned by some no names/Never had, I can’t put an end to your reign/Cool, let ’em talk/Mother fucker do your thing/I bet I boogie on ’em down the line like Soul Train,” he brings the heat for nearly nine solid minutes.

Mook rose to prominence in the SMACK DVD era and consequently became one of battle rap’s first bonafide stars. He hasn’t stepped into the battle arena since 2014 after going head-to-head with Loaded Lux at Total Slaughter, but since then, he’s been focused on his commercial career.
