Before Shawty Lo’s fatal car accident in Atlanta on Wednesday (September 21), the D4L co-founder had been enjoying a resurgence in his career. Since his 2005 hit single, “Laffy Taffy,” his output of music was fairly consistent and led to a deal with 50 Cent’s now defunct G-Unit South imprint in 2011.

Oddly enough, his last video for “Put Some Respek On It” revolves around a stolen vehicle, but once the thieves realize the car was bought by Shawty Lo, they return the car with their tails tucked between their legs, clearly showing the “respek” they have for the Georgia native.

The night he died, he was at least living it up and appearing to enjoy himself. Shawty Lo was 40-years-old and leaves behind 11 children. Check out his last moments below and watch his final music video above.
