HipHopDX Exclusive Premiere: Organizer and poet Malcolm London has been known to lend his voice to plenty of causes. The SaveMoney member has been a key activist in the movement against police brutality in Chicago for some time.

“I’m working every day to help rid the world of inequity. To make the world a better place,” London states.

Having toured the world sharing his poetry, London is now trying his hand at music. “Charlie,” the first video from his upcoming project (the name of which is still undisclosed), is a passionate and thought-provoking anthem against police brutality. The video features in-the-action footage of London and other organizers during the “Fight for 15” and Freddie Gray demonstrations in Chicago.

London approaches his introduction to music with vulnerability and a poetic prowess that can only be achieved with life experience and talent. The project was inspired by his arrest in November during a protest in Chicago and is rooted in honesty.

“People are still dying. The video will show these frustrations. Honesty is the only thing. As an artist people expect me to do certain things, but I just wanted to be honest.” London will be releasing his debut project late September.
