The 2016 BET Awards started with a bang, with an opening performance from two of the biggest stars in music right now. Beyoncé’s dancers strutted down the theater’s aisles to an excerpt of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s I Have A Dream speech, and then took the stage to back up a powerhouse performance of Queen Bey’s “Freedom” cut off her latest album, Lemonade. Kendrick Lamar then joined in, adding a verse to the track, rapping “Revolution televised, hoping that you see the sign / Meet me at the finish line, 40 acres give me mine.”
