"Ayo The Platform, takes respect to perfect the artform at times a battleground where rappers get their hearts torn 'You wanna front war' 'You've done nothing'"

In 2000, Dilated People gave the world their debut album The Platform. This album dropped during a special time in rap history where several California hip hop artist were steering away from violence and gang references in their lyrics and leaning toward a more conscious form of rap.

Today, we revisit one of the albums singles, the title track, The Platform. This track was produced by Alchemist and fun fact, he sampled Dominic Frontiere;s Crane and Jeru the Damaja's Come Clean. A recent track you may have heard Alchemist on was ScHoolboy Q's Break THe Bank. Enjoy this blast from the past and let us know your favorite throwback tracks below.

"Energy ain't created or destroyed, it's changed." Such an important album and time in West Coast Hip-Hop, can't believe how much time has flown. Kids don't even recognize any of the cameos in this video, haha...
