While recording tracks for the Bad Meets Evil EP Royce Da 5’9″ and Eminem stumbled on a beat produced by StreetRunner where Royce decides to go in and rip it up as Eminem comes in and sings a melodic hook focusing on how he can’t come up with anything due to all of his cliche rap peers. Instead of placing this track on Bad Meets Evil, Royce decided to make it the first single from his 2011 release Success is Certain.

The fast paced video features Royce Da 5’9″ driving through the motor city of Detroit in a Benz while spitting dope rhymes. Halfway through the video the song switches to the Writers Block (DJ Premier remix) version which shows clips of DJ Premier cutting up records while Royce Da 5’9″ does what he does best and spits over a beat that samples Formula IV’s If You Gonna Do It (Do It Good). Royce Da 5’9″s Writers Block was one out of 11 other tracks on Success is Certain, and is definitely one of the hottest. Watch how Royce and Em rip other rappers to pieces in today’s Throwback Thursday.
