Here's another Pursuit of Dopeness video of Kendrick performing "m.A.A.D. City" live at Lolla.

amazing song, skilled rapper, bad performance. it seems a lot of his live performances suffer from him missing half of every bar. he needs to work on his live aspect because his music is too great for him to not deliver the full potential on-stage. i think first thing would be to not put so much volume into his voice. this is a common issue many rappers have when performing live. matter of fact, it's so common i feel the need to tell all rappers reading this some advice: the louder you push your vocals the more breath you lose and plus you don't need to be yelling anyway. the mics pick up your voice fine, the sound guy makes sure your voice is loud. singers in other genres don't yell their vocals live. the idea is to sing/rap at a volume that sounds good and energetic. just a notch louder than if you were recording a studio track. you want to be able to hit every word and hit the syllables at the right times. and obviously since you're live and moving around a lot, it's gonna have a little more energy and loudness to it. but like i said earlier, no need to yell your raps live. do it for the sake of breath control.
